Eugenia Louisa Coney Remington

They told me she was dying,
But I scarce could deem it true;
Although I saw upon her cheek
Death's pale and ashy hue.
Her eyes once pure and brilliant
Were growing dim in death;
The cold sweat stood upon her brow
And fainter grew her breath.
And so she died all calmly,
With no dark boding tears
Her trusting spirit winged its way
To Heaven's eternal years.
She has gone, the loved and loving one
Who blest my latter years,
I have laid her down in the cold, cold grave,
With tenderness and tears.
I have laid her down to slumber
Where her footsteps oft did roam,
She has left a heart that loves her
In this little cottage home.
The form I loved no more I see,
The dear voice now is still,
A vacancy in heart and home
That nothing can fill.
And when my life is ended,
When I am free from toil and care
Then by angel bands attended
May I fly to meet her there.

I would now like to introduce to you yet another plan of action for the Remington Family Association. We have another of our family that has been overlooked to whom we must pay homage for the raising of our Mother and Grandmother, Louise.
I am
speaking of
Fanny Menchin Remington...
Next project for the Remington Family Association.
Fanny's ashes are being stored in perpetual care at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Now what that means is that they will always watch over her ashes forever. As member's of the family, we can take possession of her ashes and do what we like with them.
I would like to suggest that this year, we take her ashes and have them buried along with her family in the family plot up in Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn. Her whole family is buried there and I think she would like to be with them now and forever. I don't know why Lester did what he did, and I can't begin to understand why he didn't bury her ashes along with her husband's, Charles Francis Remington at Woodbrook Cemetery.
I do know that when Charles died, she had him cremated and she took the ashes to Woodbrook Cemetery - I don't know whether she spread the ashes there or had them buried? Charles's Father, Mother and Brother have stones there - why doesn't Charles?
(Maybe another project forthcoming?)
This is something that we may never know? I will do some checking around with my contacts in Woburn and see what I can find out about all of this.
I would like to start collecting funds for this new project.
Anything amount of money that you can give will be fine - $5, $10, and so on.
I think that this is a good time to start collecting for this, so we can meet a deadline of June 2001; which is when we plan to go back and do all of this!
As of now, I don't know how much this is going to cost the family, but be assured that I will keep you updated on the situation - by emailing those who have email addresses!
I will also be contacting you by snail mail!
I will be doing the planning for this project and any suggestions that you have will be considered, so drop me a line to let me know what you think?
