Dancer Family History


Peter Dantzer came into the United States as a bond servant for the Salzbergers (religious group) through Savannah, Georgia - (Ebenezer, Georgia - was the actual place of settlement later).  Peter Dantzer, was listed as a Palatine. He came across the big pond on the  "Charlestown Galley" - Master Captain Bogg.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                   Whereas, John Daniel Hertel, aged 26 Years,
                        by trade a butcher, a middle fized man, pock frettan, and wants a 
                        finger on one hand, Henry Hertel, aged 24 years, of the fame
                        trade, middle fized, of a fair complexion; John Broderick Hertel,
                        aged 22 years, of the fame trade, middle fized, a tear in his left
                        cheek; and Peter Dantzer, aged 19, a farmer, of low ftature and
                        pock fretten
; all indented fervants to Meffrs.  William Spencer and 
                        Samuel Marcer of Savannah in the colony of Georgia, have lately
                        run away from their faid mafters Service and are Fuppofed to have 
                        Secreted themfelves in that province.  Whoever shall apprehend
                        them or any of them, and, deliver them to the said William Spencer
                        or Samuel Marcer, or to Mr. Robert N. Williams in _______ shall
                        receive the fum of TWENTY POUNDS current money of the 
                        province of South Carolina for each one so taken and delivered, 
                        enclusive? of all other reasonable charges for taking the same.

According to the advertisement in the newspaper - (A wanted man, Peter ran away very soon after he came to this country) - this was his physical description - 19 years of age, small stature, pock fretten (bad acne or survived smallpox), and listed as a farmer, indentured servant of William Spencer and Samuel Marcer, of Savannah, colony of Georgia.  

The "Charlestown Galley came into port of Savannah on October 2, 1749.  
The route that was taken was:  Germany to England to Savannah.  He took flight shortly after his arrival and went to Richland county, South Carolina.

8.  Elijah Dancer* was born 1798 in South Carolina/Tennessee, and died Abt. 1868 in McNairy County, Tennessee/Alcorn County, Mississippi.  He married (1) Margarett Barnes Abt. 1823 in Stewart County, Tennessee.  She was born 1804 in South Carolina, and died Bef. 1859 in McNairy County, Tennessee.  He married (2) Emeline Higgins Morris Abt. 1860 in Tennessee/Mississippi.

        26              vi.    Arabellah Dancer, born 1858 in Tennessee.  She married C. L. Williams September 5, 1895 in Conway County, Arkansas.

        27             vii.    Elizabeth Dancer, born 1859 in Mississippi.

Dancer* was born May 1845 in Tennessee, and died August 1921 in Conway County, Arkansas.  He married (1) Ann Burchett December 24, 1865 in McNairy County, Tennessee.  She was born in Tennessee, and died in Arkansas.  He married (2) ? Abt. 1880 in Arkansas.    He married (3) Tilda Ann Birtchett August 13, 1891 in Conway County, Arkansas.  She was born Abt. 1861.

30.  Gertrude Dancer was born February 28, 1870 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas/Tennessee, and died September 26, 1937 in Desha County, Arkansas.  She married George Washington Kirtley* July 23, 1890 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas, son of James Kirtley* and Bardicia Wilkinson*.  He was born October 13, 1870 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas, and died December 4, 1933 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas.

Carter* 1915 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas, daughter of Jefferson Carter* and Julia Cole*.  She was born April 29, 1901 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas, and died September 13, 1971 in Dumas, Desha, Arkansas.

67.  Othar Lee Kirtley* was born January 25, 1925 in Center Ridge, Conway, Arkansas, and died December 19, 1988 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.  He married (1) Louise Mary Remington* March 12, 1943 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of Lester Remington* and Eugenia Coney*.  She was born January 31, 1921 in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts, and died May 11, 1982 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Oklahoma.  He married (2) Shirley Mire December 4, 1950 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, daughter of Fada Mire and Cecile Suire.  She was born February 2, 1932 in Gueydan, Vermillion Parish, Louisiana.  He married (3) Elaine Mock Abt. 1980 in Oklahoma.  She was born December 5, 1935, and died July 16, 1997 in Oklahoma.
